What's Culture, believes that "I am, because we are,” and that this is the essence of humanity. We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us. We are the teller of our stories, we are the guiders of our journeys. We are in service of our communities, we
are the teachers of our culture & history! When we think about self sustaining ourselves we have to think about how as a community we can support and help each-other!

Our manifesto is built on the philosophy of Ubuntu, ‘fostering togetherness and shared responsibility’. Our five core values are: survival, spirit of solidarity, compassion, respect and dignity (Mbgigi, 1997). We stand by the Mamba Mentality, driven by the relentless pursuit of excellence. Fearlessness, dedication, and a commitment to growth define our approach. We strive for greatness, harnessing the vision of Kobe Bryant to push boundaries, continuously evolve, and create a lasting impact.

We have core belief that ‘everything starts in Africa’. History gets revised and as a result we are left asking the questions: who are we, where do we come from and what do we define as heritage? In a time where factual information with depth is getting more scarce as a result of the speed of technology and 24 hour news cycle, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find true and valuable narratives.

MTG / What’s Culture is the creative multimedia brand that seeks the answers to these questions in everything we do. By archiving and telling stories in the fields of arts, culture, sports, we draw parallels with the aim to not only shed light but give depth and context to stories that will otherwise fade into oblivion. We seek not just to inform but to connect, contextualize, and inspire action.

Research is at the center of everything we do, therefore history and heritage are embedded in the DNA of MTG / What’s Culture. Every sentence that we write, every image that we source and every end product that we deliver is out of love for our people first. With the right attention, intention and care. We are here for those that want to know more than they’re given oftentimes. We foster a community for the curious and the connoisseurs, the tourists and the purists - brought together with a shared love for uncompromising quality & storytelling.

We are the culture!

The Other Side Magazine

The Other Side - a collaboration with our fellow Amsterdam partners GUP Magazine & Patta. Together, we bring you the latest news in fashion, culture, photography, and sports from the tulip metropolis. On this special occasion, the first print issue provides you with an interview with Edson and Tim Sabajo, the crucial figures behind the Patta projects. By way of an in- depth conversation, they share their thoughts on the brand and upcoming projects. Additionally, we feature a portfolio of Yamandu Roos who apart from working closely with Patta for years, is also documenting the surroundings and people he meets during his travels. Another documentary photographer that is often teaming up with Patta is Stacii Samidin who we interviewed to explore their collab with Clarks and his personal project Societies. Last but not least is a detailed article about the hip- hop jewelry culture that is celebrated in one of TASCHEN's books Ice Cold.
